The administration said on Monday that the Foreign Trade Policy (2015–20) will now be in effect until March 2023.
On September 30, the existing Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) was scheduled to expire.

Amit Yadav, an additional secretary in the Department of Commerce, claimed that there had been calls from various groups, such as business organizations and export promotion councils, to prolong the current policy rather than enact a new one.

They said there are now difficulties, such as global uncertainty and currency volatility.
