On September 30, the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to enter its leg in Karnataka through the Chamarajanagar neighbourhood. In the state’s Gundlupet neighbourhood, welcome posters for Rahul Gandhi were defaced before the party yatra arrived there.
Rahul Gandhi and other Congress politician posters that were up on the highway that runs through Gundlupet have allegedly been torn by BJP workers, according to Congress leaders.
On the final day of the Kerala leg, Rahul Gandhi took the helm of the Bharat Jodo Yatra as it began at Nilambur, Kerala. The yatra, which got under way on September 7, is now in its 22nd day.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra will be essential for Congress leaders facing the BJP in Karnataka. Political analyst Sandeep Shastri said in a statement to India Today that “The yatra is a Congress movement to reassert its presence nationally and in Karnataka. They have a straight fight with the BJP. It became even more critical for the Karnataka Congress. The yatra is vital for the state as it will help cement Congress’s reputation as a formidable Opposition.”
As the head of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly and a former chief minister, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have a chance to impress Rahul Gandhi on the yatra. But up to this point, Siddaramaiah has avoided the yatra. When the yatra was launched at Kanyakumari, all the other major Congress leaders, including Shivakumar, marked their attendance, but he was nowhere to be seen.
