The Gujarat assembly elections are scheduled to take place in a few days, and the electoral campaign for the ruling BJP intensified on Wednesday with a “Gaurav Yatra.” The party wants to draw attention to the changes that have occurred in the state over time as well as the initiatives that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was formerly the state’s chief minister, is currently pursuing.
Holding onto power in Gujarat, the party’s model state, is not only important for the BJP’s reputation, but also essential if it wants to do well in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP unveiled on Tuesday LED vehicles that would highlight the state’s ongoing development efforts. All 182 constituencies will be visited by the trucks. In more than a week, the “Gaurav Yatra” is anticipated to travel through 144 constituencies. In order to reach the bulk of the state’s regions and various voter segments, the yatra has been intentionally divided into five routes.
Thursday will see Shah launch the yatra along three routes. Sant Savaiyanath temple at Zanzarka hamlet in the Ahmedabad district would be one starting point. The other two routes will depart from the Unai Mata shrine in the Vansda taluka of the Navsari district. The BJP leaders’ opportunity to interact with the populace will be the yatra.
According to a party source, the Gaurav Yatra in Gujarat will place a special emphasis on establishing relationships with indigenous voters throughout the state. For the tribal people in Gujarat, there are a total of 27 seats set aside. The BJP wants to strengthen its tribal support base in the state. From Unai in the Navsari district of South Gujarat, one of the routes is planned to reach the tribal areas.
The BJP has organised the Gaurav Yatra on numerous occasions. After the violence in Godhra in 2002, Modi removed it for the first time. In 2017 there was again a similar yatra.
