T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Virat Kohli lead India to a 56-run victory over the Netherlands

India showed they are focused on the task at hand in the T20 World Cup 2022 by putting on a clinical performance against the Netherlands in their Super 12 match in Sydney on Thursday, October 27. The high of the thrilling win over Pakistan on Sunday could have served as a distraction, but Rohit Sharma’s team demonstrated they are not doing that. India scored 179 for 2 after their 20 overs, held the Netherlands to 123 for 9, and won by 56 runs.

In the Super 12, India overtook South Africa, which had thrashed Bangladesh earlier in the day in Sydney, to take the top spot in the Group 2 points table. As they attempt to get past the heartbreak of last year’s early exit and make it to the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinals, India currently has 4 points and a respectable Net Run Rate of +1.425.

Suryakumar Yadav provided the late push with a quickfire 51 not out after skipper Rohit Sharma showed signs of regaining his form with a good fifty under duress, while Virat Kohli extended his incredible run with a 44-ball 62 not out. When it came to bowling, the spinners Axar Patel and R Ashwin each took 4 wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar tied for first place with 2 each.

While running hard between wickets and continuing to find the gaps, Kohli and Rohit showed no signs of abandoning the ball. Rohit Sharma changed gears and took a chance towards the conclusion of the 10-over point. As he was dropped once on 13, the skipper persisted and took the initiative, which was Rohit’s lucky break.

As the captain, Rohit Sharma scored 53 runs off 39 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 4 boundaries. However, he was unable to finish the game because in the 12th over, he was bowled by left-arm bowler Fred Klaassen.

After Rohit left, Kohli accepted the role of the set player and joined Suryakumar Yadav as the two batsmen went for the kill in the dying stages of the game.
