Mohan Kundariya, a Rajkot-based BJP Lok Sabha member, said today that 12 of his relatives were among those murdered in the Morbi town suspension bridge collapse in Gujarat.
When the tragedy occurred on Sunday, they had gone to the picnic area, according to the BJP MP.
According to the authorities, a suspension bridge over the Machchhu River collapsed Friday night, killing at least 141 people.
According to Mr. Kundariya, his family’s 12 victims were five children, four women, and three men, all his older brother’s close relatives. He promised that anyone accountable for the atrocity would face harsh punishment.
The disaster resulted in the deaths of five children, the husbands of three of their wives, and four of their daughters, according to Kundariya.
He said they were residing in Morbi and came from various villages in the Tankara taluka.
“They had gone to the picnic area where the incident occurred because it was Sunday. I arrived an hour after the event and have been there today, assisting with the rescue efforts, “the MP included.
“There have been so many fatalities. We will punish those accountable for the tragedy severely, “said said.
After the bridge fell, Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, was reportedly camped out in Morbi, according to Kundariya.
He said, “We will ensure that no one is spared for the loss of so many lives.”
