In a heartwarming start to the wedding celebrations of their son, Anant Ambani, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, the Ambani family organized a ‘Samuh Vivah’ (Mass Wedding) for over 50 underprivileged couples from the Palghar area, located about 100 kilometers from Mumbai. The ceremony took place at the Reliance Corporate Park and was attended by nearly 800 guests, including families of the couples. This event marks the beginning of a series of similar weddings that the Ambani family plans to support across the country during the upcoming wedding seasons.
The Ambani family has long upheld the timeless Indic dictum, “Manav seva hi Madhav seva” – “Service to humanity is service to God.” By beginning their major family celebrations with acts of service, they reinforce their commitment to the community and the spirit of giving.
Smt. Nita Ambani and Shri Mukesh Ambani, along with their family members, attended the function, extending their heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds. Their presence added a personal and auspicious touch to the event, highlighting the family’s dedication to social service.
As part of their generous gesture, each couple was presented with gold ornaments, including Mangalsutra, wedding rings, and nose rings. They also received silver ornaments like toe rings and anklets. In addition to these gifts, each bride was given a cheque for ₹1.01 lakh as her ‘streedhan’ (dowry). The couples were further supported with grocery and household items sufficient for one year, which included 36 essential items, utensils, appliances such as a gas stove, mixer, and fan, as well as a mattress and pillows.
The wedding ceremony brought together over 800 people, including the families of the brides and grooms, local social workers, and community members. The event was a grand celebration of love and togetherness, emphasizing the importance of community support in life’s significant moments.
Following the ceremony, a grand dinner was organized for all attendees, further enhancing the spirit of celebration and unity. The attendees were also treated to a performance of the traditional Tarpa Dance by the Warli Tribe, providing a rich cultural experience and adding to the evening’s festivities.
This event is just the beginning of the Ambani family’s pledge to support hundreds more such weddings across India in the upcoming wedding seasons. Their commitment to social service and community welfare remains steadfast, and they aim to continue their efforts in making a positive impact on the lives of the underprivileged.
The ‘Samuh Vivah’ hosted by the Ambani family not only marked the joyous occasion of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding festivities but also served as a testament to their commitment to social responsibility. By supporting the underprivileged and upholding the principle of service to humanity, the Ambani family continues to set a shining example of philanthropy and community spirit. The evening was a beautiful blend of tradition, generosity, and cultural richness, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
