The nation has been seeing a dip in the number of COVID-19 cases after peaking earlier this year due to the rise in the Omicron variant.
After a very long time, the surge in Corona cases has now been declining with the number of daily infections showing a sign of relief. As per reports, the total number of fresh cases registered in the last 24 hours were 30,757. This is low as compared to the data of the previous week. The number of cases was above 50,000 till February 12 after peaking in January due to the rise of Omicron across the country.
Kerala has recorded the highest number of infections with 12,223 cases being reported in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra recorded 2748 cases, Karnataka reported 1894 cases while Rajasthan recorded 1702 cases of COVID-19 and Madhya Pradesh has recorded around 1338 cases in the past 24 hours. These are the top states which saw the highest spike in the daily number of cases in the past 24 hours.
In the average weekly spike of cases, Kerala has seen the highest surge followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. This decline has come after various states had brought fresh curbs to control the spread of the highly transmissible and infectious variant of the Coronavirus.
The Union Government had asked the state governments to review the curbs. The central government said that currently, the trajectory of the cases across the country has been showing a sustained downward trend and the states and union territories can remove the additional measures that were imposed considering the trend of the new cases, active cases and positivity rate in their respective states.
After this announcement, various state governments including Haryana removed all the restrictions. The National Capital Territory had also seen a drop in the daily number of cases with only 704 cases being recorded in the last 24 hours. On average, Delhi had seen 1000 cases in the past week.
The nation’s COVID graph shows that the worst of the third wave might be over in the country. At present, more than 3.32 lakh cases are active in the nation and the weekly positivity rate is at 3.04 per cent as per the latest health bulletin updated by the government.
