BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab chose AAP

What could have been a close contest became a one-sided winning story for BJP and AAP in two major agricultural states of India, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Where the reinstating of Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of UP was a sure shot, a predicted outcome, the election result of Punjab shocked many by changing the wheels from the hand of long-ruling Congress to the newly arrived Aam Aadmi Party.
Party Convener and President Arvind Kejriwal expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the people of Punjab in the words, “We all love you Punjab,” to which the crowd equally responded with, “Love you Kejriwal”.

Stamping on the politics of caste, religion, and Deras, AAP won this clear contest by putting forth the education and health of people of Punjab as the first motto of AAP election agenda in the state.

This whopping win of 92 seats brought several bigwigs of the ‘Land of five rivers’ to a crushing defeat. Former CM Charanjit Channi, Capt. Amarinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal are a few of the Congressmen who lost to a new party on their turf. Many politicians came forth to call the big win of AAP the result of Congress’s inefficiency in the ruling. The public looked for a change, which AAP provided effectively.

At the same time when the AAP party was sweeping the streets of Punjab with a major lead, BJP upsurged the land of the holy river Ganges with the color of saffron. Even the land-born Samajwadi Party failed to get the vote share of such high figures.

Though BJP’s vote share decreased from the famous 2017 Vidhan Sabha election, it is notable to say, that the work of BJP in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath has wormed its way into people’s life and heart. They want development more than caste politics.

With this, maybe the reason for native parties losing on their battleground is because the desire of people to change history is much better and stronger now that India is advancing and making its mark known to the rest of the world.

The two rivals now stand on the turf of our producers. It is sufficient to say 2024 will be a year of great battle and rivalry for the two major parties.
