Shaheed Diwas 2022: PM Modi pays tribute to the Martyrs.

On March 23, 1931, the freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were hanged to death by the British government. The trio was found guilty of the murder of deputy police superintendent JP Saunders in 1928. This was done to vindicate the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. This day is marked in the honor of the martyrs of the nation as Martyr’s day ( Shaheed Diwas).

As a tribute to the Indian revolutionaries, PM Modi will inaugurate Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata. The inauguration will take place at 6 pm via video conference.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted- “23rd March is a special day for us all as we observe Shaheed Diwas. At 6 PM tomorrow, will inaugurate the Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata via VC. It will showcase the contributions of those who devoted their lives for our freedom”.

The Punjab government has declared 23rd March as the state holiday in honor of the revolutionaries. The chief minister Bhagwat Mann also insisted people visit his ancestral village near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, Khatkar Kalan. CM Mann also declared that there will be a portrait of Bhagat Singh and Bhimrao Ambedkar in all government offices of the state.
