The conference, which included National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, also addressed security measures for the impending Amarnath Yatra.

In the aftermath of a string of deaths in the Valley, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a review conference on Friday to evaluate the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. The meeting was attended by Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor; Army Chief General Manoj Pande, and Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a ministry source, the home minister discussed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and security measures for the approaching Amarnath Yatra.

The conference took place after terrorists killed several non-Muslims, including security officers, an artist, and local people in the Kashmir Valley.

In two different instances, two people were slain in Kashmir on Thursday, one a bank employee and the other a brick kiln laborer.

The bank manager was the ninth person killed in Kashmir since May 1, and the laborer was the tenth.
Terrorists shot and killed a lady teacher from the Jammu region’s Samba district at a school in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Terrorists invaded a wine shop in Baramulla, North Kashmir, on May 18 and tossed a grenade, killing one Jammu resident and injuring three others.

On May 24, policeman Saifullah Qadri was shot dead outside his home in Srinagar, while television actress Amreen Bhat was killed two days later in Budgam. Since the assassination of Rahul Bhat by terrorists on May 12 in the Chadoora region of Budgam district in central Kashmir, scores of Kashmiri Pandits who were engaged under a prime minister’s package in 2012 have staged protests threatening mass flight.

Shah led the high-level meeting, which was the second in less than a week. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force Kuldeep Singh, Border Security Force commander Pankaj Singh, and Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh were among those present.

Earlier, Shah met with LG Manoj Sinha, Arvind Kumar, RAW Secretary Samant Goel, and DGP Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh in a casual meeting.
