Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, promised on Thursday that youth who finish four years of service under the central government’s short-term recruiting programme ‘Agnipath’ will be given first priority for posts in the state police and associated forces. Yogi Adityanath claimed on Twitter that the Agnipath initiative will prepare the youth for service to the nation and society, allowing them to have a bright future.
Adityanath has previously lauded the plan, saying it would usher in a “great chapter” in Indian military history.
The Ministry of Education will launch a special three-year skill-based bachelor degree programme for serving defence personnel that will recognise the skill training they received during their time in the defence establishments, in order to improve their future career prospects and equip them for various job roles in the civilian sector.
This comes just one day after Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, made a similar declaration for short-term hires. Such recruits, known as ‘Agniveers,’ will be given priority for posts in paramilitary forces and the Assam Rifles, according to Shah.He said, “The double-engine government of BJP is dedicated and committed for the upliftment of the youth and to secure their future. Jai Hind!”
