Sutapa Sikdar, the late actor Irrfan Khan’s wife, tweeted a flashback photo with him today to honor him. Irrfan and Sutapa wed in 1995 after a protracted courtship. They were theatre students who were classmates. Sutapa reflected on the time the pair used to converse, argue, and collaborate before deciding to drop everything and fall in love. She wrote: “This was the jab we decided to chuck everything out the window and leap out and fell in love… Jab, we met, chatted, argued, and worked together for some time. You continue to ask me questions, but you no longer respond in this manner. Irrfan, I’m still paying close attention to what you’re saying, but why have you discovered new tactics? Miss you is an understatement,” she wrote with the hashtag #theater, #lovestories, and #irrfan.
Previously, Sutapa posted a picture of Irrfan and Babil with the caption: “I have no idea what discussions took place between father and son while they worked on the same movie “on” and “off” camera, but it always seemed to be a matter of life or death (whether it be the difference in taste between today’s nimbu Pani and yesterday’s or perhaps some genuine existential inquiry).
