Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the 2014 general elections, but he now needs to worry about 2024, according to JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, who took the oath as Bihar’s eighth chief minister on Wednesday.
A day after Kumar severed relations with the BJP-led NDA and teamed up with the RJD to create a “Mahagathbandhan” government, a sparse ceremony marking his election as prime minister took place.
A top opposition official further noted that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, Mamata Banerjee, K Chandrashekar Rao, the chief ministers of Telangana and West Bengal, as well as Kumar, are all candidates for the role of prime minister.
Nitish Kumar is qualified to become prime minister if you evaluate the personalities in the nation. Upendra Kushwaha, head of the Janata Dal (U) National Parliamentary Board, stated in Patna, “We are not making any claim tonight, but he has all the qualifications of a prime minister.”
He announced his resignation as chief minister of the NDA alliance government on Tuesday and declared his intention to work with the RJD, the Congress, and other parties to create a new coalition.
Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s leader, also took the deputy chief minister oath. Although Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, severed connections with the BJP and has since been positioned once more as a prime ministerial candidate for the 2024 elections, the majority of the opposition still views the JD(U) leader with distrust due to his frequent U-turns.
