According to insiders in the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, the AAP possesses the audio recording of the BJP’s “promise” to Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, that all charges against him will be withdrawn if he switched sides.
The audio tape will be made public by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) “when the time comes,” they claimed. The CBI has charged Mr. Sisodia on claims related to the capital’s now-repealed alcohol policy. Earlier in the day, Mr. Sisodia claimed that the BJP had promised to “close all cases” against him if he left the AAP and switched parties.
“I have received a message from the BJP — break AAP and join BJP. We will ensure that all cases by CBI and ED against you are shut,” Manish Sisodia tweeted two days after the CBI raided him and named him in a chargesheet on the alleged liquor policy case.
Sisodia previously stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had “offered the CM’s post” to him and promised to close all cases against him if he left the AAP and joined the saffron party. The BJP responded by accusing the Delhi deputy chief minister of trying to divert attention away from the corruption allegations against him.
“Phone is the only medium? BJP leaders do not know what are the means they use to do such work? The BJP uses all sorts of tactics, tools and means such as phone, messengers, meetings for such work,” Singh said.
When the time comes, everything will be “disclosed”, he added.
“They (BJP) have done it (approached Sisodia). They are making their moves. We are also making our moves. Wait, we will disclose everything when the time comes,” Singh said.
Sisodia’s assertions were supported by AAP leaders, however neither they nor the deputy chief minister provided the identity of the BJP member who had made these proposals to Sisodia.
Sisodia’s shocking accusations came days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched his home in connection with claims of corruption in the administration of the Delhi excise policy, and as BJP MP Manoj Tiwari from Northeast Delhi pressed the AAP leader to identify the person who made these “offers” to him. Sanjay Singh, the Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson for the AAP, dodged a straight question on how Sisodia was able to record the BJP’s “offer” when the CBI had his phone in custody at a press conference.
