The Noida Authority announced on Friday that planes would temporarily be prohibited within a one nautical mile radius of the twin tower demolition site.
A nautical mile is roughly equivalent to 1.8 kilometers.
The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved this, and the Noida Authority reported on Sunday as it monitored the demolition preparations for the roughly 100-meter-tall twin buildings.
The Ministry of Aviation approved the non-availability of one nautical mile of air space for aircraft to fly at the time of demolition, it said in a statement, “given the dust generated following the demolition, on the proposal of the Noida Authority.”
Earlier, the Noida police banned the use of drones in city skies from August 26 till August 31, citing security reasons given the demolition of Supertech’s illegal towers.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Ram Badan Singh invoked the powers under CrPC Section 144 as he passed the ban order.
Police had also declared that drones would be allowed but only beyond the “exclusion zone” of about 500 meters and that with their permission.
No human, animal, or vehicle would be allowed in the exclusion zone on August 28.
The Apex and Ceyane towers, nearly 100 meters tall and taller than Delhi’s famous Qutub Minar, are set to be dismantled at 2:30 pm on August 28 following a Supreme Court judgment that deemed their construction inside the Emerald Court grounds to be unlawful.
On August 28, more than 5,000 people who reside in Emerald Court and the nearby ATS Village society will be evacuated. They must leave the property by 7 am and are only permitted once the relevant agencies have given the demolition the all-clear at 4 pm.
