To commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary, the University Grants Commission has asked Higher Educational Institutions (colleges/universities) to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31. To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the UGC has requested that a pledge-taking event be held. It is requested that a pledge-taking ceremony be held to commemorate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31, 2022, as it is a special occasion to foster and reinforce dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity, and security of the nation by reinforcing the values of a strong and united India.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas commitment reads, "I solemnly swear that I dedicate myself to maintaining the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and also work hard to promote this message among my fellow citizens," according to UGC. "I make this commitment in the spirit of my nation's union, which was made possible by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's vision and deeds. I also firmly swear to do my part to protect my nation's internal security, "read the UGC announcement.
The UGC has asked colleges and other institutions to observe the pledge-taking ceremony in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary.
Additionally, the UGC advised all higher education institutions to organize a special exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's life from October 25 to October 31 that may be translated into local languages.
