On Wednesday, more than 2,000 schoolchildren and NCC cadets participated in a “know your Army” event in Nagrota, a village outside of Jammu, to commemorate the Army’s White Knight Corps’ golden anniversary. According to Army authorities, the program taught the pupils about counterterrorism and counter-infiltration activities and how to operate military hardware.
The pupils reported feeling a surge of adrenaline following the impressive show of assault helicopters Rudra and a fascinating exhibition of free fall sky jumping by a team of skydivers from the Army adventure wing. “It was a military operation and military power teaching trip for us. To encourage young people to enlist in the Indian Army, the 16th Corps, popularly known as the White Knight Corps, organized a mela as part of its golden jubilee festivities and the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” according to Army authorities. Over 2,000 students from the Army Public School Nagrota, Sainik School Nagrota, Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School Nagrota, Government Boys High School Nagrota, and NCC cadets, according to the report, attended the ceremony.
Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, the White Knight Corps’ GOC, spoke at the event and recounted the Corps’ illustrious past and its crucial role in the defence of the Jammu area. He recalled the gallant people who had given their lives in the past to maintain territorial integrity and regional peace with Pakistan, the officials said.
