This year Oscar will be held on 27th March physically in two years at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles. The event will be aired in India in accordance with Indian Standard time on 28th March.
This year marks the 94th Academy Awards. This is the most awaited award ceremony. Since the pandemic, the Award ceremony would be taking place physically after two years.
The Awards ceremony will be presented by the Academy of Motion pictures art and sciences. The academy will honor the films released between March 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.
The nominations announcement was made on February 8, 2022. The ceremony will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes.
India’s entry to the Oscars nomination is made by “Writing with Fire”. The film is from two Delhi-based filmmakers -Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh.
The documentary earned the nomination for ‘Best Documentary Feature Category’.
The documentary is about how in a cluttered news landscape dominated by men there emerges India’s only newspaper run by Dalit women. The chief reporter Meera and her journalists break norms and redefine what it means to be powerful.

The other nomination of the same category is- ‘Ascension’, ‘Attica’, ‘Flee’ and ‘Summer of the Soul (Or When the Revolution Could not be Televised)’.
The maximum number of nominations are earned by “The Power of the Dog” and “Dune”.
