At 3:52 am on Friday, Myanmar was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2. Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya were among the northeastern states where tremors were detected. At a depth of 140 km, 162 km northwest of Burma in Myanmar, the earthquake's epicentre was located.
An further earthquake of 3.8 magnitude with its epicentre in Kamjong, Manipur, struck the area shortly after. At 7:53 am, the news was reported.
However, no reported causality has been made thus far. Because the northeastern region is located in a strong seismic zone, earthquakes frequently occur there. The National Center for Seismology reported that an earthquake with a Richter magnitude of 4.5 occurred yesterday 150 km north of Diglipur in the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
So far, no fatalities have been reported.
