The Lok Sabha secretariat on Friday issued another advise forbidding the distribution of any pamphlets, flyers, or banners in the House during the monsoon session following the release of a contentious list of “unparliamentary” phrases.

They had already been prohibited from participating in any “demonstration, dharna, strike, fast or for the purpose of performing any religious rite” within the grounds of the Parliamentary Building by an earlier bulletin.

Jairam Ramesh, the chief whip of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, was one of the first people to criticise the amendments on Twitter. He said: “Vishguru’s latest volley – D(h)arna Mana Hai!” while uploading a copy of the circular and lashing out at the administration.

Additionally, there have been instances where opposition members have been observed brandishing placards from their seats in the well, consistently infuriating the chairs of both Houses.

On Thursday, the Lok Sabha Secretariat published a revised brochure with a list of phrases that would be impermissible in both Houses. The list caused a commotion since it contained several phrases that are frequently used, like “corruption,” “corrupt,” “Jumlajeevi,” “tanashah,” “Dictator,” and “black,” among others.

The advice was issued in response to the opposition causing a commotion at the Parliament complex since they were denied permission to organise protests and dharna.
