K F Rustamji, from the Indian Police Service, was given the charge of the first Director General of BSF. Khusro Faramurz Rustamji (K.F. Rustamji, IPS) was entrusted with the task of selecting officers and soldiers serving in the police, army, navy and air force to create a border security force.
