By burning more than 15.76 lakh earthen lamps at the "Ram ki Paidi" on Sunday, Ayodhya broke its own record and set a new Guinness World record for the "biggest display of oil lights" on the eve of Diwali.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, received the certificate from representatives of Guinness World Records. The certificate was displaced by Yogi Adityanath and the prime minister, Narendra Modi.
The record was mostly produced by Awadh University's professors and students. As soon as the PM declared the festival to be open, more than 15.76 lakh clay lamps were lit individually while people chanted "Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram."
“I am happy that people of Ayodhya, entire UP and world are witnessing this event. As we are celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava’, the determination like Lord Ram will take the country to new heights," He mentioned this while speaking to a crowd in the Ram Katha park.
The prime minister prayed to Ram Lalla at Ram Janmbhoomi at the time of this. This is his first trip to Ayodhya following the "bhoomi pujan" for the beginning of the Ram temple's construction on August 5, 2020.
A laser show was also held there as the prime minister performed aarti on the riverbank and declared that Ram was a beacon who gave light to the entire world. The grand Deepotsav celebrations were launched by the prime minister by lighting an earthen lamp on the banks of the Sarayu river. Soon, 18 lakh diyas lit up the venue.
He wished everyone a happy Diwali while Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya started six years ago through the guidance and inspiration of PM Modi.
