Amitabh Bachchan's 80th birthday will be celebrated with a film festival, which the Film Heritage Foundation said on Friday. As part of the festival, films starring the megastar will be shown in 17 locations throughout the nation. In collaboration with the top multiplex operator PVR Cinemas, the non-profit organisation formed by director and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur has collected a collection of 11 popular movies, including Don, Kaala Patthar, and Kaalia.
The four-day celebration, dubbed "Bachchan Back To The Beginning," will begin on October 8 and end on the star's birthday, October 11. The gala will take place on 30 screens and 172 showcases in 22 theatres throughout India.
Amitabh Bachchan stated that he never imagined a day when all of these movies from his early career would be released.
The Film Heritage Foundation and PVR's commitment to highlight not only my work but also that of the directors, coworkers, and technicians from the era who made these films possible is incredible.
"It recalls a time that has passed yet not been forgotten. Saving India's cinematic legacy is crucial for this reason. The 79-year-old actor added, "I hope this is only the first of many festivals that will honor iconic masterpieces of Indian cinema back on the big screen.
Audiences can view some of these films in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Raipur, Kanpur, Kolhapur, Indore, and Bachchan's hometown Prayagraj, according to a press release from the Film Heritage Foundation.
Kabhie Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halaal, Abhimaan, Deewar, Mili, Satte Pe Satta, and Chupke Chupke are some of the other films that will be presented as part of the festival.
According to Dungarpur, head of the Film Heritage Foundation, the festival's goal is to provide viewers with a cinematic experience of Amitabh Bachchan's films.
"I was the most enormous Amitabh Bachchan admirer when I was a kid. I'm thrilled that the Film Heritage Foundation is honoring Mr. Bachchan on his 80th birthday with the first-ever four-day event that will take place nationwide.
"Choosing the greatest of the early films that made him famous and assembling them for public viewing in the manner in which they were first shown on the big screen has been a laborious process," added Dungarpur.
As a special treat for his followers, PVR Cinemas offers a movie pass for 400 rupees, which can be ordered online via the PVR App and website.
The pass may be used at any of the 22 theatres where the films are playing on all days. According to the press announcement, single movie tickets will cost 80 rupees.
Dungarpur expressed his gratitude to PVR Cinemas for agreeing to broadcast the legendary actor's classic flicks.
A PVR theatre in Juhu, a suburb of Mumbai, was the venue for the event and the mounting of an exhibition of Amitabh Bachchan's memorabilia, for which he also expressed gratitude to film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur. A cinema historian, author, and archivist organized the display.
It will include various meticulously chosen artifacts, such as rare vintage posters, never-before-seen shooting stills from the superstar's career, commissioned artworks, photos, LP sleeves, magazine covers, a gigantic seven-foot standee, and the authentic Shahenshah outfit.
PVR Ltd. Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Bijli expressed his company's happiness at working with the Film Heritage Foundation on the festival.
To honor Mr. Bachchan's work on the level appropriate for the most significant icon of Indian cinema, Bijli remarked, "We are thrilled that for the first time we can hold a festival of this sort of Mr. Bachchan's films across the country."
