According to AQI.in, a website that provides real-time AQI information in India, Delhi is named among the most polluted cities in India after Diwali, but it is at second place. Patna, the capital of Bihar, is at first number, where the average AQI was recorded at 572 in the morning. Whereas, Delhi's AQR was 468 at second place. The AQI of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, located in the neighborhood of Delhi, was recorded at 410 i.e. in the extremely dangerous category. At the same time, AQI in Ghaziabad, UP is above 400. On the other hand, AQI was recorded around 380 in Rohtak, Haryana. Among the top-5 polluted cities of the country, three cities are from Delhi-NCR.
On the other hand, according to the data of Pollution Control Board of India, the condition of metro cities of India is also very bad due to pollution. In most areas of Mumbai, AQI remains around 200 on an average. Here in the morning a blanket of smog was seen like Delhi. On the other hand, an average AQI of more than 200 has been recorded in five of the six AQI stations in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Apart from these metro cities, the air quality in Bangalore, Karnataka has been the best. The AQI here was in the good to moderate category (70-120).
If we talk about the average AQI of entire India, after Diwali its figure has reached 182. Which indicates poor quality of air. At present, the average PM 2.5 particles in India are 106, which is 7.1 times more than the World Health Organization (WHO) standard. On the other hand, an average of 151 particles of PM-10 are present in the atmosphere in the country, which is much more than normal.
