The Congress has scheduled a meeting of all its MLAs in Rajasthan amid rumors that Sachin Pilot may replace Ashok Gehlot as chief minister as he transitions to the position of Congress president.
The state’s top position is likely to be on the table since the party headquarters in Delhi is directly engaged; senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge has been named Observer, and state in-charge Ajay Maken will attend.
Given that he has the Gandhis’ support, Ashok Gehlot’s election as Congress President next month is guaranteed. After considerable hesitation and resistance, he finally agreed to follow the party guideline of “one man, one post.”
