The Congress politician said when asked if the Rajasthani administration had failed as a result of the police crackdown on the family: “I have no idea what the situation might have been. I believe that the involved police officers must be punished by the government. I am unsure of the cause of the delay.”
Senior Rajasthan Congressman Sachin Pilot questioned the delay in taking action against police officers who have been accused of abusing the victim’s family as he condemned the killing of a Dalit schoolboy in the Congress-ruled state for drinking water from a pot designated for the so-called “upper castes.”
After seeing them, he told NDTV, “Just because we are in government, we cannot take things for granted. The episode has sparked criticism from within the party and led to the resignation of an MLA, creating a new dilemma for the Ashok Gehlot administration.
“The teacher and school are the targets of government activity. Despite the fact that there is some monetary recompense, what is much more significant is that when the boy’s body was presented, there was Mr. Pilot claimed that the family and other attendees were subjected to a police lathi charge.
