The Supreme Court's decision to release the six criminals convicted in the murder of former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi was described as "unfortunate" by the Congress party.
Jairam Ramesh, a Congress member and the general secretary in charge of communications, responded to the Supreme Court's ruling by saying: "The Supreme Court's decision to release the last remaining murderers of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is entirely wrong and reprehensible. The Congress party strongly objects to it and believes it to be completely unworkable."
It is quite regrettable that the Supreme Court did not handle this matter in accordance with the spirit of India, he continued.
