The nation of Friday reported 3,47,254 fresh cases of the Coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am this morning. There were 703 fatalities reported as per the data.
The active caseload of India has crossed the 2 million mark due to the surge in the number of cases all over the country. The total count of the active cases is 20,18,825, the highest number in the last 235 days. The data further reported that the active cases comprise 5.23 percent of the total number of infections. The overall figure of the COVID cases is 3,85,66,027 according to the report published by the Union Health Ministry. The death toll of India is 488,396.
The number of Omicron cases has gone up to 9692. The first two cases of the Omicron variant were reported in December 2021. The data also informed that there is a 4.36 percent increase in the number of daily Omicron cases. The daily positivity rate has risen to 17.94 percent and the weekly positivity rate has reached 16.56 percent. As per the data, around 2,51,777 people have recovered from the deadly virus in the last 24 hours increasing the total number of recoveries to 3,60,58,806. On Thursday, India recorded the highest single-day tally of the number of cases in the past 8 months.
As far as the vaccination is concerned, over 160 crore people have been administered the vaccine doses so far all across the nation.
