Jacob & Co and Ethos Watches Unveil Exclusive Ram Janmabhoomi Limited Edition Timepiece

Swiss watchmaker Jacob & Co, in collaboration with Indian retailer Ethos Watches, has launched a unique and highly exclusive timepiece: the Ram Janambhoomi limited edition watch. Priced at Rs 34 lakh ($41,000), this luxury watch is designed to commemorate the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It comes in two distinct versions, each representing a deep cultural and spiritual connection to India’s heritage.

This watch is part of the celebrated Epic X Skeleton series, known for its intricate and sophisticated design. The Ram Janambhoomi edition stands out as a tribute to India's rich cultural heritage and is considered one of the most distinctive collaborative watches ever created. Each element of the watch is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, symbolizing the significance of the Ram Temple and the broader cultural values it represents.

Design and Features

The watch features a striking depiction of the Ram Temple at the 9 o'clock position, while the phrase "Jai Shree Ram" is elegantly inscribed at the 6 o'clock position. Both versions of the watch showcase the revered figures of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. Additionally, the timepiece is adorned with a saffron bracelet, a color deeply symbolic of spirituality, purity, and devotion. This color choice reflects the essence of Hindutva and the core values associated with the Ram Temple.

"Every aspect of the watch is meticulously crafted to echo cultural and spiritual importance," noted Jacob & Co in their announcement.

Limited Availability

Only 49 of these exclusive watches have been produced, emphasizing their rarity and exclusivity. Out of these, 35 watches have already been sold, indicating a high demand among collectors and devotees alike.

Historical and Cultural Significance

The release of this limited edition watch is particularly significant against the backdrop of the Ram Mandir's historical and cultural importance. The Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been a focal point of intense legal and religious significance in India. In 2019, after decades of legal battles, the Indian Supreme Court awarded the land for the temple’s construction to the Hindu community. The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2020, and he also participated in the consecration ceremony earlier this year, where the idol of Ram Lalla was placed in the sanctum sanctorum.

Architectural Grandeur of the Ram Temple

The Ram Temple itself is an architectural marvel, built in the traditional Nagara style. The monumental structure measures 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. It features 392 intricately carved pillars and 44 gates, making it a significant addition to India’s cultural and religious landmarks.

Conclusion

The Ram Janambhoomi limited edition watch by Jacob & Co and Ethos Watches is more than just a timepiece; it is a celebration of India’s cultural heritage and spiritual values. With its intricate design and profound symbolism, this watch stands as a tribute to the significance of the Ram Temple and the rich traditions it embodies. As the watch garners attention and admiration, it also highlights the enduring cultural and spiritual legacy of one of India’s most revered religious sites.
