Pox virus, illustration. Pox viruses are oval shaped and have double-strand DNA. There are many types of Pox virus including Chickenpox, Monkeypox and Smallpox. Smallpox was eradicated in the 1970’s. Infection occurs because of contact with contaminated animals or people and results in a rash or small bumps on the skin.

Due to the rapid increase in monkeypox cases, the central government begins surveillance at all international entryways.

Samples of people who are showing symptoms would be sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for further inquiry.

“Send samples (to NIV, Pune) only in such cases where people display certain specific symptoms. Not samples of sick passengers.”—-News agency ANI.

According to ANI information,

The Centre directed the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have been asked to keep a keen watch on the new health crisis evolving in the world, in Europe.

Meanwhile, World Health Organization has called for an emergency meeting, concerned with the rapidly expanding monkeypox outbreak.

As Monkeypox cases in Europe have now crossed 100, Reuters said. Data collected by an Oxford University academic says that number is more immediate to 130.
