Online footage purporting to show revelers on the Tata Memorial Hospital terrace in Mumbai on Saturday night has surfaced. The hospital, a specialized cancer care center, is located in East Parel.
On Twitter, Siddesh Dhauskar, a social media user, posted the video. He added, “The caption” in it, “Celebrate on the terrace of @TataMemorial hospital! And with loudspeakers blasting at maximum volume after midnight!”
The video footage seems to have been taken from a structure next to the hospital. It displayed the patio with lights on it. The well-known song “Maa Tujhe Salaam” by A R Rahman could also be heard playing in the background through loudspeakers.
Mr. Dhauskar questioned the Mumbai Police if it was permissible to party on a hospital terrace while posting the footage on social media and tagged them in the question. He captioned the photo, writing, “Shocking to see loudspeakers and dancing at a hospital with cancer patients.”
The Mumbai police responded to the event quickly. They took notice as soon as they were made aware of the situation. The Mumbai Police said, “We are transferring it to the main control room.”
Meanwhile, a video showing pharmacy students making a scene while celebrating a birthday inside a hospital appeared online last month. The video was recorded in a Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, public hospital. It caught the attention of the higher authorities, who opened an investigation.
In a separate instance, a video showed older students striking a line of juniors facing the wall when the event surfaced on social media. The video was recorded in Madhya Pradesh at a medical school. Through the National Medical Commission hotline, the issue was brought to the attention of the college management. Additionally, an FIR was filed against the pupils.
