NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu received "Z plus" security protection on Wednesday from the Centre, according to officials.
On Tuesday night, the BJP-led NDA named Droupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate. In the meantime, Yashwant Sinha, a former union minister, was chosen to run as a joint opponent in the upcoming presidential elections.
Droupadi Murmu, a Santhal by birth, started her political career in 1997 as a councillor in Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. According to officials, the Union home ministry ordered the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to send out its VIP security protection team to assume control of Ms. Murmu's security shortly after this statement.
