A picture of an Indian Air Force (IAF) commander posing with his fighter pilot daughter is popular on the internet. A Hawk sortie was flown at Bidar, Karnataka, by Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma and his daughter, Flying Officer Ananya Sharma, according to an Air Force press release. On May 30, the flight occurred.
According to the IAF, the father-daughter team made history by flying in a Hawk-132 formation together.
"A father and his daughter participating in the same jet formation on a mission has never happened before in the IAF. Air Cmdre Sanjay and Fg Offer Ananya were more than simply father and daughter on that operation. They were friends who had complete confidence in one another.
Air Commodore Sharma and his daughter are shown in the picture smiling in front of the fighter jet. Ms. Sharma is completing her training at Bidar in preparation for moving on to the IAF's quicker, more advanced fighter aircraft.
They have gained popularity on Twitter, where users refer to them as "inspiration."
Air Marshal (Retd) PK Roy tweeted, "Hope to see many more in the future," after praising the accomplishment.
A Twitter user said, "Excellent...what a wonderful moment for both father and daughter."
In 1989, Air Commodore Sharma received his commission in the IAF's fighter stream. He has vast expertise in fighter operations, leading a front-line fighter station and a Mig-21 Squadron.
Five years after the IAF began allowing female pilots to join its jet unit, Ms. Sharma was commissioned as a fighter pilot in December 2021.
She earned a B-Tech in electronics and communication.
