A Pakistani national who reportedly traveled into India from another country in order to assassinate banned BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma has been detained in Rajasthan’s Sri GangaNagar area.

According to a senior Border Security Force (BSF) official, the individual was detained on July 16 at about 11 p.m. from a location close to the Hindumalkot border station. A patrolling squad discovered him in a questionable state, and he was promptly detained and frisked.
“In the bag he was carrying; we discovered an 11-inch long knife, as well as clothing, food, literature on religion, and sand. He introduced himself as Rizwan Ashraf, a resident of the Pakistani city of Mandi Bahauddin, which is located in Northern Punjab, “said he.
He continued by saying that during the first inquiry, the suspect said he had crossed the border to assassinate Nupur Sharma because of her divisive comments about the Prophet. He had intended to carry out his plan after visiting the Ajmer Dargah.
“He has been turned over to the neighborhood police for additional investigation. He was brought in front of a magistrate, who sentenced him to eight days in police detention. We’ve told the relevant intelligence organizations about him, “he added.
He is being questioned by a team from IB, RAW, and military intelligence.

The action was taken in response to statements made by now-suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma against the Prophet Mohammad, which sparked violent riots across the nation and attracted criticism from various Gulf nations.
