The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced in an official statement, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 22 projects in the poll-bound state of Manipur. These projects cover diverse sectors including road infrastructure, drinking water supply, housing, skill development, urban health, and development amongst many others.

The Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate around 22 development projects in the state of Manipur. The projects that will be inaugurated in Imphal are worth Rs.4,800 crore. The inauguration will be done for around 13 projects worth Rs. 1850 crore and the foundation stone will be laid for the 9 projects that are worth around Rs.2950 crore.

These projects include the inauguration of a steel bridge over Barak River that is located on NH-37 and has been constructed at a cost worth more than Rs. 75 crore. This infrastructure will increase immaculate all year round connectivity to Silchar in Assam from Imphal in Manipur and will also decrease the traffic congestion, the Prime Minister’s Office reported.

Additionally, a number of 2387 mobile towers were built at a cost of around Rs. 1100 crore will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister today. He will inaugurate multiple projects prevailing to a regular and clean supply of drinking water to all the houses in the districts of Imphal, Senapati, and Tamenglong worth Rs. 396 crore. 

Modi took to his Twitter account to announce that he will be inaugurating a COVID-19 hospital in the state of Manipur in order to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure. The 200-bed hospital will be situated in Kiyamgel and has been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 37 crore. This was built in collaboration with the DRDO ( Defence Research and Development Organisation). Modi will also be inaugurating 3 projects under the ‘Imphal Smart City Mission’ that was developed at a whopping amount of more than Rs.170 crore. 

The foundation stone will be laid for projects which include a state-of-the-art cancer hospital located in Imphal worth Rs.160 crore built on the basis of PPP (Public-Private partnership) basis. This hospital will provide a boon to the people residing in the state to reduce the out of the pocket expenditure who have to go a long distance and outside of the state for getting the appropriate cancer-related treatment and services. 

Five national highway projects, a CIIIT ( Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training ), two other projects relating to handlooms and handicrafts sector, and a government residential complex are some of the projects for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone in Manipur. 

Manipur will have the polls this year and the BJP government is hoping to make a massive comeback in the state this year.
