According to police, a man in Gurgaon has been charged with raping a woman from the US while she was here, forcing her to have an abortion, and threatening to post her private photos online if she did not pay him 50 lakh.
The 42-year-old woman claimed in her complaint on Wednesday that she was defrauded of a total of 13 lakh while dating the man.
She claimed that after she broke off communication with him, he threatened to post her private photos online unless she paid him 50 lakh.
The woman, who is based in California, said in her lawsuit that she traveled to India in 2014 to treat her 11-year-old daughter and had been residing there ever since.
The woman contacted Meerut, Uttar Pradesh resident Sachin Kumar via social media in August 2017. They both began gathering frequently.
She claimed that, according to the police, Sachin begged her for money and informed her of his disagreement with his wife.
The woman said Sachin Kumar had raped her one day and had offered to marry her after she fell pregnant.
Additionally, she said that Samanwita Hajra, Kumar’s wife, and his mother, Kanta Upadhayay were complicit in the scheme to deceive her.
“In March 2018, Sachin pushed me to consume alcohol before raping me when I was drunk. He vowed to marry me when I resisted.
I found out I was pregnant in May 2018, and Sachin wanted me to have the baby aborted. He brought me to a temple and staged a marriage ceremony there, “The woman complained.
“In the meantime, he started making cash withdrawals using my debit card, email password, and other credentials. And I was startled to learn that he was still residing in the Sushant Lok neighborhood with his wife Samanwita Hajra, “She spoke.
She claimed that she planned to leave for California in October of last year, but she stayed instead, moved to the Sushant Lok neighborhood, and lost touch with Sachin due to a renal condition.
“On October 13 last year, Sachin visited me at home and demanded 50 lakh rupees while threatening to release my images and videos to the public.
“He kept phoning me even after I returned to California and sent those pictures and videos to my husband on his phone. I went back to India to report it to the police,” she claimed.
After she filed a complaint, Kumar, his mother, and his wife were all charged with various offenses under the IPC and IT Act, including rape, forced abortion, cheating, and poisoning.
Inspector Poonam, SHO of Sushant Lok Police Station, is looking into the situation.
She claimed that the facts were being checked and that the accused would be apprehended quickly.
