PM Modi will inaugurate the National Youth Festival

The Prime Minister’s office issued a statement reporting that the PM will participate in the 25th National Youth Festival being held in Puducherry on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti which is also observed as the National Youth Day all over the country. The festival this year will be held virtually on January 11 and January 13 due to the spread of Coronavirus. 

Modi will address and inaugurate the program at 11 am today. Prime Minister will inaugurate a technology center that is expected to function under the Union Ministry of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. He will also inaugurate an auditorium that will have an open-air theatre and will be called the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam. PM Modi took to his Twitter to announce the same on Tuesday and also shared some pictures of the auditorium. He also urged the youth to attend the program and asked them to share their inputs as well. He also said that it is always a delight to hear from the talented youth of India. 

The technology center that will be inaugurated has been built at a cost of around Rs. 122 crore with the main focus on the EDSM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing) sector. This will cater to the skill development needs of the youth of the nation and will also train around 6400 trainees every year, according to the statement made by the Prime Minister’s Office. The cost of building the auditorium is estimated at Rs. 23 crore. It will primarily be used for educational purposes and is built to accommodate over 1000 people, the statement mentioned. 

The National Youth Festival is aimed to shape India’s Youth’s minds and to transform them into a united force for nation-building. It will also be aimed to bring diverse cultures from all over the country and try to bring them together into the united thread of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” which translates to One India, Number one India. 

After the inauguration of the festival by the PM, there will be panel discussions in the National Youth Summit on four themes namely: Environment, Climate, and SDG (Sustainable Development Goals led growth; indigenous and ancient wisdom; technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation; nation-building, national character building and homegrown. The people participating in the festival will be able to see the recorded videos of Auroville, indigenous sports games, and folk games. There will also be open discussions with Olympians and Paralympians and will be followed by live performances this evening. A virtual yoga session will also be held in the morning. Modi, during the inauguration, will also unveil the selected essays that were submitted by the youth of India on two themes. There were over one lakh submissions for the same. 

This is one of the biggest events of its kind and it provides a great platform for the youth of the country to showcase their talents in various fields.
