Supreme Court Declares "Vicious Cycle" in Fact-Checker M Zubair's Bail Case, Halts Action

Mohammed Zubair was granted bail in one UP FIR but is still being held due to five further cases.

Fact-checker Mohammed Zubair got another bit of temporary relief from the Supreme Court, which told the Uttar Pradesh police not to take any action in five cases registered against him until the next hearing on Wednesday.

He’s already got bail in a sixth case in the state, but he remains in jail due to the other FIRs. In the latest plea, he wants to bail and quash all six FIRs.

Justice DY Chandrachud responded to the state government’s request to the Supreme Court not to interfere with lower courts’ ability to issue orders. “But the vicious circle is the issue. He is released on conditional bail in one case but is taken into custody in another.”
