An accused professional burglar in Bangladesh put an early stop to his career when, after being caught in the act by an enraged mob, he contacted the police and reported his crime.
According to the local police commander Asad uz Zaman, Yasin Khan, 40, stormed into a locked grocery shop early on Wednesday morning in southern Barisal city to steal items from the shelves.
"Khan realized it wasn't dark longer, and people woke up and started arriving at the market as he finished the job and was going to go out," Zaman told AFP on Friday.
Khan dialed the police emergency line to request assistance since he was in danger of being attacked violently, and an angry mob had gathered.
Before the crowd could touch him, we rushed to the business, dragged him out, and put him in jail, according to Zaman.
The police chief said, "I have never witnessed such an incident.
The shop proprietor, Jhontu Mia, informed reporters that Khan tried to flee the scene after stuffing a large bag with expensive things.
After admitting to the break-in, Khan was detained and jailed, according to the neighborhood police station.
Later, police learned he was sought for several further crimes in the region.
