Suzuki and Toyota have announced the production of a new SUV for India and the rest of the world at Toyota Kirloskar Motor's plant in Bengaluru.
In the world of electric, hybrid, popularity in India. With the rebadged Maruti Suzuki vehicles, they too had great success. But reliable Toyota automobiles are hard to get in India. With products like the Hilux pickup vehicle and the new Innova, Toyota intends to change that.
The two automakers will now begin production of a new hybrid SUV model. The Japanese intend to market the new model in India as Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively. This is one of the collaborations in the business partnership.
In its cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka, Toyota is anticipated to handle the manufacturing of both SUVs. Toyota will provide all electric and electronic parts required for the hybrid powertrains. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have previously shared certain automobiles. However, Toyota received all of them as rebadged Maruti Suzuki vehicles. But the impending C-segment SUVs would mark the first joint venture between the two businesses.
A modified and substantially localised version of Toyota's DNGA (TNGA-B) modular platform will serve as the foundation for both SUVs. Transmissions, platforms, hybrid architecture, interiors, and engines are also anticipated to be shared. Speaking about the engines, we anticipate that both SUVs will come with two petrol engine choices paired with two different hybrid powertrains.
Both automakers are promoting a mutual supply of vehicles globally. Additionally, the two businesses intend to export the new concept to markets outside of India, such as Africa.
