After defeating Hong Kong by 40 runs on Wednesday, Team India advanced to the Super 4s round of the 2017 Asia Cup.
The combo of Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli put up an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 98 runs, making them the game’s standout players.
At one point in the 13th over, India was in trouble at 94/2, but Suryakumar turned the game around by slamming an undefeated 68 off only 26 balls while smashing six fours and six sixes.
However, Kohli led India to 192/2 in 20 overs with 59 off 44.
“Today, I was honored to speak with SKY, who played a fantastic knock. I appreciated the reverse coming from the other end. On a field that wasn’t as simple as he made it seem, he came in and dramatically altered the game’s momentum, “In a video uploaded to the BCCI website, Kohli remarked.
He said, “Well done, that was a fantastic knock; I have seen so many from a distance when we play each other in the IPL, or that being done to other teams when we play for India.
“But this was the first time I had paid attention to it. I have floored, “The former captain cried out.
“I’m curious about how you thought when you went there. Please explain what you meant when you said that you had already planned anything based on how the game was going, “He enquired of Suryakumar.
Suryakumar responded to Kohli’s query, saying, “First of all, I enjoy batting alongside him” (Kohli). Rishabh and I talked about how we moved the game ahead because the wicket was a bit sluggish while inside. I simply tried to be myself and do what I enjoyed while I was at bat. I set a goal of hitting three to four boundaries in the first ten balls at the time, and after I achieved it, I just continued batting. I told you to keep batting at the other end because it would be simple for you to cover up at the end when I realized I needed you there.
“Since I have observed you are batting 30-35 balls frequently, your next ten balls, you bat with a strike rate of 200-250. It was important for me that you stay at the crease. I enjoyed it,” he said.
Suryakumar hit six sixes in the last over, four of which came in one. The explosive batsman said he was trying to mimic the great Yuvraj Singh by hitting every ball the boundary ropes.
We shouldn’t get past Yuvi paa. He jokingly said, “I was doing my best to hit six sixes in the last over.”
In just 42 balls, Kohli and Suryakumar combined for a third-wicket partnership of 98 runs.
“The collaboration was fantastic for our group as a whole. It was something I liked, “Informed Suryakumar Kohli.
In his words, “I honestly feel with the way you played today and stay in that zone, you can change the complexion of the whole game against any team in the world. I look forward to seeing you play these sorts of knocks consistently.”
Kohli, who initially found it difficult to score easily, eventually reached his half-century and picked up the pace at the end.
He entered the competition after taking a month off and amid a rough period that he would like to leave behind.
“Well, my strategy was straightforward. I just got back from a good break, and six weeks is a long time, especially at the international level. I was psychologically fresh and loved my batting against a pitcher in the previous game.
Kohli was India’s co-top scorer against Pakistan with his 35-run innings before his 59-run performance against Hong Kong. He has scored the most runs thus far in the competition.
“My goal was to stabilize the innings and form a partnership with whoever I was batting with since I had a general understanding of the pace of the wicket. When circumstances allow, take a chance in between and occasionally push the boundaries. “Speaking about his strategy against Hong Kong, he stated.
