As an Indian, we surely have a lot of spices in our recipes and foods. Spices are what make food more delicious, add flavour to it and make it look more presentable.

during, these scorching summers and increased heatwave may result in low energy levels and slow digestion. To fight summers away, we need food that has a cooling effect on our bodies. Adding some spices can do wonders for your health while some can create problems. So mindful eating and cooking are important.

However, there are some spices that you should avoid during summers or have a minimum intake. These are;

  1. Red Chilli

Red chilli or red chilli powder adds a spicy flavour to our food but during summers red chilli should be avoided or should be consumed in moderation.

Red chillies may increase the body temperature. Hot and spicy foods such as chilli powder raise body temperature which can cause sweating and burning in the stomach and chest.

That’s why red chillies must be avoided especially during summers.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is mainly used in addition to teas. Also ginger has many benefits such as it helps to decrease inflammation and its antimicrobial properties keep the immune system strong.

However, ginger is a hot spice that is known to increase body temperature. It can also cause heartburn, diarrhoea and other stomach problems if taken in excess amounts.

  1. Garlic

Although Garlic has many benefits such as weight loss, controlling hunger and boosting metabolism.

But its consumption is advisable during winters and it is not recommended to consume it in summer as it generates heat in the body. It may also cause bad breath, acid reflux and an increased risk of bleeding.
