2,183 new Covid cases reported today, an 89.9% hike from yesterday’s record.
New Delhi: India today witnessed a massive rise in the Covid cases. This has penetrated fear in the minds of people regarding another spike in infections. Yesterday’s count, i.e., 1,150 cases have been overpowered by today’s record of 2,183 cases.
A total of 214 Covid deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours. However, the highest backlog of 212 deaths comes from Kerala. Following court appeals, 62 backlogs of deaths have been cleared. While the state reported 150 deaths between April 13 & 16.
An indication of the spread of the infection stands evident considering the increase of 0.31% yesterday to 0.83% today.
Though a slim dip in the active cases (11,558 to 11,542) can be seen. Since the pandemic struck, India has reported a total and over of 4.30 crores.
The city on a constant surge of cases is the capital itself – Delhi which reported 517 Covid cases. According to yesterday’s bulletin, Delhi reported a total of 1,518 cases – the highest since March 3 this year. Several students in Delhi, as well as adjoining cities, have tested positive over the past couple of weeks, prompting panic among the parents, teachers, and institutions in regards to the closure of schools.
The spike in cases is worrying in the period when all states have eased Covid restrictions.
