Amit Shah is an Indian politician. Currently, he serves as the Home Minister of India. He is also the first Cooperation Minister of India.
Birth and background
Amit Shah (full name: Amit Anil Chandra Shah) was born on October 22, 1964 in Mumbai into an affluent Gujarati family. Amit Shah was born to Mrs. Kusumben and Mr. Anilchandra Shah. His great grandfather was the Nagarseth (capital chief) of the small kingdom of Mansa. His father, Anil Chandra Shah, was a businessman from Mansa (Gujarat), who owned a successful PVC pipe business. Amit Shah is married to Sonal Shah. His son’s name is – Jai Shah. Jay Shah is currently the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Entry into politics
Shah was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood. He started going to Shakha since childhood. During his college days he formally became an RSS volunteer. His first meeting with Narendra Modi was in 1982 through the Ahmedabad RSS Mandal. At that time, Modi used to be an RSS pracharak. In 1995, the BJP formed its first government in Gujarat, with Keshubhai Patel as the Chief Minister.
