Anuradha Paudwal is an Indian playback singer, who predominantly works in Hindi cinema. He has been described in the media as one of the most prominent bhajan singers and one of the most successful playback singers of the 80s and 90s of Bollywood. Apart from Hindi songs, Anuradha has sung songs in languages like Punjabi, Tamil, Marathi, Oriya, Nepali and Bengali etc.
Anuradha Podwal was born on 27 October 1954 in a Konkari family in Karwar district of Karnataka. Anuradha was brought up in Mumbai, Anuradha’s husband Arun Podwal was an assistant musician to music composer SD Burman.

Started career with the film “Abhiman”
Anuradha started her career with the film ‘Abhimaan’, which was directed by SD Burman. In this film, Anuradha sang a verse for Jaya Bhaduri, after this there came a time when Anuradha had to sing in every film. Because of this singer, Lata Mangeshkar’s career was in danger. Famous singer of Hindi music industry, Gulshan Kumar brightened the fortunes of Anuradha Podwal, she was honored with Filmfare Award three times in a row for singing in films like ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi’ and ‘Beta’.
Why did you leave the Bollywood industry?
Anuradha, who continuously gave hit romantic songs, now sings only bhajans. In an interview, Anuradha told that, I have now moved away from the Bollywood industry, because now the lyrics and music in the songs are not as sweet as before, and that joy is no longer there. Found in hymns.
Anuradha devastated by the death of her husband and son
Anuradha’s husband Arun Podwal died in 1990.
They had only one son, who passed away in 2020. Anuradha was completely devastated after losing her husband and son.
Now Anuradha runs a charity trust in the name of her son.
