The quantity seized from Club Town Heights, an apartment building in the Belgharia neighbourhood, may be higher than reported by ED sources because counting is still ongoing. "One apartment in a housing complex contained a significant quantity of money that we were able to recover. To determine the exact amount, we have brought three note-counting devices. Along with the cash, gold bars, jewellery, and other papers have also been found, according to an ED officer.
According to sources, ED officers had to break into two Belgharia apartments connected to Mukherjee because the keys were nowhere to be found. Based on information provided by Mukherjee, who was detained with the Minister on July 23—the day after the first batch of cash was seized—the searches were conducted.
Along with cash, numerous additional damning documents, records, information about shady businesses, technological gadgets, foreign currency, and gold have also been found at the various locations where the scammers were staying. According to sources, the investigating agency also uncovered numerous WBSSC documents and student admit cards in Mukherjee's flat and Chatterjee's home during the raids, as well as several property-related paperwork in Chatterjee's home.
Chatterjee and Mukherjee were taken to the ESI Hospital in Kolkata earlier in the day for a health examination. Chatterjee brushed off inquiries about his departure in his remarks to the media. He enquired, "What is the reason?"
Manik Bhattacharya, a former leader of the West Bengal Primary Education Board, is also being questioned by the ED in connection with the issue.
