BJP's Amit Malviya claims that Rajasthan's chief minister Gehlot is headed toward rebellion

As he posted a little video of him commending the performance of public sector enterprise Coal India and some decisions made by Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi, BJP’s Amit Malviya asserted on Thursday that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is on the “path of rebellion” from the Congress.

The veteran Congressman may be seen in the footage speaking at an event. “Make no mistake. Gehlot is on the path of rebellion. After inviting Gautam Adani, despite Rahul Gandhi’s derision, he now heaps fulsome praise on Coal India and minister Pralhad Joshi, for helping Rajasthan at critical times. This is in sharp contrast to Congress’s belligerence,” Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT division, asserted.

The three-time chief minister of Rajasthan has been a strong opponent of the BJP, but it seems that his relationship with the Congress leadership has deteriorated when his devoted MLAs convened a separate gathering in Jaipur in defiance of the party’s call for a parliamentary party conference.

It was thus thought that Gehlot would run for president of the Congress with the Gandhi family’s tacit support, and that a new leader would take over in Rajasthan in Gehlot’s place.

However, the turn of events led to the party leadership pressuring Mallikarjun Kharge to run in the election, where Shashi Tharoor is also in the running, and where there is still uncertainty regarding Gehlot’s future as chief minister. In Rajasthan, there will be assembly elections in the second half of 2023.
