Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal gets interim bail from Supreme Court

There is big news from the capital Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has got bail from the Supreme Court. Kejriwal has got a big relief. At the same time, due to Kejriwal getting bail, an atmosphere of happiness has been created among the AAP workers. However, there was already hope that CM Kejriwal might get bail.

The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In fact, his petition challenging his arrest was heard in the Supreme Court today i.e. on Friday. The petition challenges his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam in Delhi. The court has sent this petition to a larger bench. Earlier on May 17, the bench had reserved its decision on Kejriwal's petition.

In which case will the decision come?

On April 15, the apex court had sought response from ED on Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest in the money laundering case. The convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had challenged the April 9 order of the Delhi High Court in the apex court.

What did the High Court say?

The High Court had upheld Kejriwal's arrest in the case, saying there was no illegality in it and the ED was left with no option after his repeated refusal to join the investigation.

The Chief Minister was arrested by ED on March 21 in a money laundering case. He was granted bail by a lower court on June 20 in the case on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, the ED moved the Delhi High Court the next day. ED had argued that the lower court's order granting bail to Kejriwal was one-sided and wrong. Kejriwal was also arrested by the CBI on June 26 in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam.
