Delhi Temperature rise

Delhi faced a big temperature rise on Tuesday at Safdarjung when the maximum temperature went up to 34.7 degrees Celsius, which is five points higher than the normal city temperature in March. While, the minimum temperature there stayed at 18.9 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees higher than the normal

In parts of the capital, the temperature was seen rising even more than 35 degrees on the Mercury scale. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the temperature may rise further after the two days of the Holi break. IMD has stated that due to wind pattern, there will be seen stability in the maximum temperature until the next three days. On Wednesday, winds will be stronger during the day, after which the wind direction might change to northern direction. This change in the wind will be the reason for the next three days’ stability in temperature. But this will shortly change by Saturday when the temperature is predicted to soar a little.

According to IMD, the mercury rise seen on Tuesday was the maximum at the Sports Complex of east Delhi, i.e., rising to 36.2 degrees Celsius. This temperature was followed by 35.9 degrees of value, seen at Pitampura. Lodhi road and Ayanagar faced the rise in heat at 35.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the forecast, from Wednesday till Saturday, the maximum temperature will range between 34- 35 degrees Celsius, while the temperature will rise to 36 degrees Celsius and reach 37 degrees Celsius on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

The IMD data for 2021 recorded the highest temperature jump to be 40.1 degrees Celsius in March while in 2020, it was 33.3 degrees Celsius, in the same period.

With this, SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research) has released the data on capital’s Air Quality Index (AQI), stating that from Friday, the capital is likely to suffer from ‘poor’ to ‘very poor quality of air. The reason given was the low wind speed causing the reduction in the dispersion of pollutants.
