The Supreme Court has instructed Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narwekar to suspend the disqualification petitions that are pending against both the Shinde side and the Thackeray camp amid the chief minister Eknath Shinde vs. Uddhav Thackeray dispute.
On Monday, Team Uddhav's attorney, Kapil Sibal, requested that the disqualification process remain unchanged.Prior to the important sessions, the court was informed that the disqualification petitions filed against state chief minister Eknath Shinde and other Shiv Sena rebel MLAs could be decided by newly elected assembly speaker and BJP leader Rahul Narwekar. The disqualification proceedings will henceforth be handled by the speaker, not the deputy speaker, according to the assembly secretary.
Not only did Shinde's uprising last month cause the Maha Vikas Aghadi government to fall within two years, but it also caused a rift within Sena. Uddhav said last week that no one could remove the party's bow and arrow symbol as part of a dare. Additionally, he had demanded new elections in the state.
Shinde had also attacked Uddhav on Sunday prior to the eagerly awaited hearings.“Some people think they are born to rule. I am not the one to have born with a golden spoon. They should have felt proud that a common man has assumed the chair. They are filing petitions in the night and early morning. But even the court knows. We have the majority numbers to rule. We haven’t done anything illegal,” he said in Pandharpur, without naming his predecessor.
The statements of senior attorneys led by Kapil Sibal that the several pleas of the Uddahav faction were to be listed on Monday were noted by the bench consisting of Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli.
